In an exciting finale to the UK series of regional heats of this popular quiz based on children's books, held at Seven Stories in Newcastle on 3rd December 2007, the team from Arnold House School, North London, were the UK winners.

2nd George Heriot's School, Edinburgh
3rd Truro School, Cornwall
4th Swavesey Village College, Cambridgeshire

The Kids' Lit Quiz is designed to promote enthusiasm for reading and books, and to encourage students of 11 and 12 years to enjoy, read and discuss their reading. In the style of a pub quiz with spot prizes for participants and audience, it began in New Zealand and now has finals in the UK, South Africa and China. Last year the world final was also held in the UK, in Oxford. Teams of four students are asked to answer 100 questions in ten categories, which vary each year. Each team is asked to select one category, for which they will receive double the points. Teams work collaboratively to answer each question. Incomparable quiz master Wayne Mills, senior lecturer at the Faculty of Education at the University of Auckland sets questions and runs all of the heats and the finals, since setting KLQ up in the 1990s.

Many congratulations to the team from Arnold House School. They can now begin reading for the final next summer.
