Booktime - Prize Draw

Booktime is the programme run by the Booktrust in partnership with Pearson and the Department for Education that gives free books to all children when they start reception class at school. The aim is to promote reading for pleasure and encourage family engagement in shared reading at an important transition stage in children's learning and development.

This autumn, 680,000 copies of Eric Carle's wonderful storybook "Slowly, Slowly, Slowly," Said the Sloth will be given to all children starting reception class in England. To celebrate, Booktime are offering primary schools and libraries in England the chance to enter a prize draw to receive an exclusive artist's proof from the book. Eric Carle signs each vibrant, colourful spread from the book.

Anyone can nominate a primary school and a public library in England (full terms and conditions are on the website). There are also a poster and flyer that libraries can download and print out.

Nominations opened on 6 September 2010 and close on 31 October 2010. To nominate, all your readers have to do is visit the Booktime site and find their school or library.  The Booktime website also has games and resources inspired by all the books that have given away in the past.
