Job Vacancies: Newcastle School for Boys - Senior School librarian.

Newcastle School for Boys is seeking to appoint an ambitious and suitably experienced individual to the post of Senior School librarian. The post offers an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a candidate who has the vision and drive to continue the development of an effective and vibrant new Senior School library at this growing independent boys’ school.

 The successful candidate will lead and manage the new Senior School library to support the School’s teaching and learning, particularly through facilitating boys’ independent learning (including the use of new learning technologies) and their reading for pleasure.

The ideal start date is April 2018 or sooner, although it is more important to us to appoint the right candidate.

The School envisages the successful candidate working approximately 20 hours per week arranged as 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, term time plus 15 days. The exact hours and working arrangements are reasonably negotiable for the right candidate. It is anticipated that these hours may increase over time as the School and its library provision grow.  

The salary will be in the region of £19,500 to £26,000 per annum pro rata according to experience and qualifications.

The key purpose of this role is to lead and manage all aspects of the Senior School library:

  • To support teaching and learning at the Senior School.
  • To provide a facility and environment that promotes and supports boys’ independent learning.
  • To provide a facility and environment that promotes and supports boys’ reading for pleasure.
