Online Reading Group launched

Write Away is launching an online reading group for teachers, librarians and other education professionals.

After discussion, the final selection of books to be read each month has now been made. A thematic approach has been decided on to provide choice but also to allow a focused and enriching discussion.

All are welcome to visit the Write Away site and join in the Booktalk. Registration is free and Write Away is an advertising and pop-up free zone!

FEBRUARY
For the romantic month of February, the inaugural theme is retellings of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. The selected books are:

Robin McKinley Beauty (Corgi)
Donna Jo Napoli Beast (Simon Pulse)
Max Eilenberg & Angela Barrett Beauty and the Beast (Walker)

MARCH
To coincide with the Bicentennary of the Abolition of Slavery, the topic for the month is books on a SLAVERY theme. The books are:

M T Anderson The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing (Walker Books)
Malorie Blackman Unheard Voices (Random House)
James Riordan Rebel Cargo( Frances Lincoln)
Julia Bell Dirty Work (Macmillan)
Julia Golding Cat Among the Pigeons (Egmont)

APRIL
In April there will be the first Author Focus discussions. All the books are by LINDA NEWBERY on the theme HISTORY AND HOUSES:

Set in Stone (Random House)
Polly's March (Usborne)
