WildVerse 2013

WildVersePure has teamed up with the RSPB Wildlife Explorers and Fun Kids to launch the 2013 WildVerse poetry competition, which includes a new Twitter category for the first time. Children are invited to write a ‘wild poem’ about a bug, bird, animal or special place for the chance to win a Pure radio to listen to their poem read out on children’s radio station, Fun Kids.

WildVerse is now in its third year and this year’s competition will be judged by award-winning writer, Gill Lewis, a keen animal lover and former vet who has written a series of books for children that reflect her passion for wild animals and wild places.

There are four categories this year. Under 8s and children aged 8-12 and 13 and over can enter their poems online at www.funkidslive.com/wildverse or send their poems to

WildVerse,
RSPB Wildlife Explorers,
The Lodge,
Sandy,
Bedfordshire SG19 2DL.

The main winners will win Pure Sensia 200D Connect internet radios with colour touch screens and the runners up will receive One Flow internet radios.  Over 13s can also choose to enter a Twitter competition and they will need to send their poems in 1 tweet on Twitter including #wildverse. The prize for this is a Pure Jongo S3 wireless multiroom speaker.  The closing date is Friday 25th October 2013 and the poems will be read out on air during the weekend of 21st/22nd December 2013.

Excelsior Award 2013

Stan LeeSome great pictures from the 2013 Stan Lee Excelsior Award Ceremony.  Librarian Paul Register says -
The pics from last month's Stan Lee Excelsior Awards Ceremony are now available to view on the official website! They're a great representation of what went off on the day. My heartfelt thanks to all the staff (and students) that helped out on the day and to all the schools that attended. The photos were taken by one of our students and are a terrific tribute to her growing skills as a reporting photographer.

Thanks for sharing them Paul!
