SLA Annual Weekend Course 'The best yet'
Delegates have praised this year's SLA Weekend Course as the best they have ever attended, and the level of teaching, discussion and interaction as extremely high.
Knowledge is Power: Creating the Information Literate School was held at the University of Surrey in Guildford from Friday to Sunday, and despite the extraordinarily hot weather enthusiasm ran high throughout the event. Keynote speakers Dr Ross Todd from the Centre of International Study of School Librarianship (CISSL) at Rutgers University in New Jersey, and Sharon Markless and David Streatfield of Information Mangement Associates, all delivered inspiring and thought-provoking keynote addresses, while a huge range of other speakers gave workshops and seminars around the theme of Information Literacy.
A full report will appear shortly on the SLA website and in the next issue of The School Librarian.
Members might wish to make a note that next year's course will be in Bath from 23 - 25th June, and will be looking at promotion and advocacy.
