From the Tiger who came to Tea to Mog and Pink Rabbit: A Judith Kerr exhibition

Special preview on Friday 18th September 2009, 12noon - 4pm

Seven Stories would like to invite you and your colleagues to the launch of their latest landmark exhibition, a retrospective of acclaimed author and illustrator, Judith Kerr. This will be an exclusive opportunity to view the exhibition and enjoy light refreshments.

This exhibition, curated by Seven Stories, will give children and grown ups the chance to share Judith's story, told though a lifetime of looking, drawing and imagining. On show will be Judith's childhood paintings of streetscapes in Berlin and Switzerland, her first sketches and finished artwork of the famous Tiger and the unforgettable Mog, and scenes from When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit - all brought to life by some of Seven Stories' most imaginative and thoughtful sets yet.

The exhibition is on show until May 2010 and has been developed in association with Harper Collins Children's Books, Northern Rock Foundation, Heritage Lottery Fund, John S Cohen Foundation and MLA Their Past Your Future Phase 2 Programme.

The NE England branch held a solution-focused one day course on Information Literacy and Learning How to Learn

with Duncan Grey (Head of Learning Resources at Hinchingbrooke School, trainer and author)
 on Wednesday 13th May

at Shiremoor Public Library

cost: £75 for SLA members  (£100 for non-members)

The course was a huge success with all of the delegates who said the course completely met their expectations.

Duncan was an excellent trainer who really got the delegates thinking about their own situation as well as the bigger picture and everyone went away believing they could effect change back in their own schools.

Comments about the day included:

"very inspiring and helpful",
"very well-explained, very practical so I can get on with it after the course",
"good practical suggestions which can be adapted and put into practice"
"lots of ideas and motivation"
"excellent and informative"

Using a newly designed public library as the venue proved to be a fabulous selling point too with everyone keen to look around and pick up display/furniture ideas.

If you have any ideas for training courses next year please get in touch.
