The School Library Association will not use any personal data collected on this site for any purpose other than that specifically stated. By subscribing to the School Library Association newsletter(s) you are opting for the School Library Association to use your contact email address for all email communications related to your profile preferences and subscriptions. You can unsubscribe from receiving any future communications at any time.

The School Library Association subscribes fully to the Data Protection Act (1998) and the E-communications Act (2003). The School Library Association will never intentionally misuse or allow others to misuse any personal data it collects or holds.

The School Library Association does not sell or pass on personal contact details to any organisation for commercial purposes and will not do so in future without asking you for a specific opt-in to that scheme.

We may pass your details to one of our suppliers but only to deliver products/services that you have requested from us. In this event data will be used solely for the purpose for which it was intended.

The School Library Association does collect standard log files on its web server. These log files do not collect personal data but rather collect information which assists the School Library Association in assessing the use and usability of its various sites. This information may include the IP address of your computer. The School Library Association will not attempt to trace that IP address to you personally.

This website uses short term 'session' cookies which exist while you are on the site and assist the School Library Association in improving user experience.

Photography

  • We may use group photographs with very general captions such as, "Year 6 class"
  • We will only use pictures of children who are suitably dressed, to reduce the risk of such images being used inappropriately
  • If we name a child in the text, for example, as the author of a competition-winning entry on our website, we will not use a photograph of that child to accompany the text
  • We seek permission from parents/guardians, either directly or via schools, to use photographs of their children for promotional purposes and subject to the above guidelines
