Series: SLA Voices · Level: Secondary

Working within a curriculum context is key part of the work of all school librarians, especially when it involves project/research work with a real Information Skills focus and with a qualification at the end of it. Here Barbara Band has worked with approximately twenty of her Year 9 students to deliver the AQA HPQ Level 2 qualification (the Level 2 version of EPQ) – providing both the taught skills and supervising their personal studies. She takes us through the process from student selection to the final presentations, with reference to some of the challenges on the way and a list of realistic recommendations to readers who plan for similar involvement.
