The latest title in our Riveting Reads series has been compiled by members of our Oxfordshire Branch and offers the opportunity to build a collection which will enable students to understand those in other countries and cultures, to appreciate and celebrate difference, and create an awareness of the situations in far-off places.

We are delighted to announce the publication of the latest title in our Riveting Reads series of booklists.  Riveting Reads 6 - 8 is intended to provide a range of suggested reading for this age group, who are perhaps at the most exciting stage in their reading lives.  Those who are bored or discouraged by the books that are available to them can often become reluctant to read. ... Another first for the SLA website!  We have today published our first online title: Riveting Reads 16 - 19 part 1, written by our Chair, Eileen Armstrong, well known for her knowledge of literature for teenage years and as UK co-ordinator of the Kids Lit Quiz. ... Both of these projects, like last year's Boys into Books, are based on Riveting Reads booklists specially commissioned from the School Library Association (SLA), Book Ahead written by Julia Eccleshare from CLPE and Boys into Books 5 - 11 by Chris Brown, Review Editor of The School Librarian and former Chair of the SLA.
SLA is delighted to announce the publication of the Everyone's Reading 11-18 reading list in our Riveting Reads plus series.
Everyone's Reading, the long awaited book gifting scheme, is open for registration.  As from midday today - Monday 7 December 2009 - all state secondary schools in England can register to receive 15 of the titles from the Riveting Reads Everyone's Reading list.  All the books will be supplied free of charge by Peters Bookselling Services and will arrive jacketed - this has been made possible by funding from DCSF.  Some schools with higher FSM entitlements will receive a further 10 books - book eligibility for your particular school will become obvious upon registration.  To register, follow the instructions at www.everyonesreading.org.uk/
