Our SLA Weekend Training Course is hugely popular. Held in June at a different location each year, the course has become an essential element of professional development for many school librarians - "a wonderful melting pot of ideas".
The course is fully residential, but day delegate options are also available.
The 2017 SLA weekend course – Lightbulb Moments: Powered by Librarians – will be run in association with CILIP YLG. It will be held over three days from 23–25 June 2017 at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate, Yorkshire.
The course will celebrate the 80th anniversary of both the SLA and the CILIP Carnegie Medal, established in 1937.
Planned themes include self-esteem, mental health and reading; book awards and controversial books; visual literacy; e-resources; information literacy and practical reading promotions.
Special events include:
Plus a varied programme of optional sessions for school and public librarians. The programme will be available soon.
Keep the dates free! Full information will be published here and in the Spring 2017 issue of The School Librarian. Online booking will be available here soon.
We are happy to take early reservations before booking opens if it helps… NB we also take staged payments but individual arrangements need to be made with the SLA office.
