A Virtual Event with ‘At Home with 4 Indies’

Four independent bookshops have collaborated over the last few months to create virtual events for adults and children and are now offering an event towards the start of Black History month for KS1 and KS2 children.

On Wednesday 7th October Floella Benjamin will be celebrating the picture book edition of her wonderful memoir, ‘Coming to England’, illustrated by Diane Ewen.

The event with be ‘live-steamed’ and is suitable for both KS1 and KS2 pupils (Years 1-4).

In the current social and political landscape that we live in, this is an excellent way to introduce children to Black History – the Windrush generation and Black Lives Matter.

There will be a charge for taking part in the event, but in return the school will receive signed copies of ‘Coming to England

Schools need to reply by Friday 18th September 2020 to secure attendance.

On registration the school will receive posters so that children and parents can prepare for the event. Schools will also receive an order form to send home so that children can order a signed copy of the book if they so choose in addition to the copies received by the school.

More details are here, as are the sign up instructions.
