Thank you to the SNSL in Australia and also Helen Boelens PhD, International School Library Researcher and Advisor in The Netherlands, our colleagues overseas who have alerted us to this opportunity:
On 21 May 2020, the "Students Need School Libraries" (SNSL) Campaign in Australia hosted a free webinar, in English, which was facilitated by Karen Bonanno from Eduwebinar. This webinar discussed the ways in which school library staff responded to the changes in their school libraries which were triggered by the COVID19 pandemic. This was a very useful and popular webinar, which explained the need for rapid response from school library staff when schools were forced to close, and how services, resources and programs were delivered to meet the needs of students, teachers and the school community during this critical time.
Since then, the SNSL has published many different kinds of articles and other information on their website. It is really worthwhile to visit this website, to read about the many ways in which teacher librarians and other school library staff have solved many of the problems which were triggered by the pandemic. These people deserve our compliments for the way in which they reacted at such short notice.
Now, a second webinar, in English, has now been organised by SNSL, facilitated by Karen Bonanno. You can take part in it free of charge. It will be held from 10am – 11am BST (7.00pm to 8.00 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time) on 25 June 2020. If you would like to take part in the webinar, please register for the webinar, using this link. These webinars are very popular. You will receive an acknowledgement explaining details about how to connect to the webinar.
