27 June 2022 Share

Bookshop.org are offering schools the chance to broadcast their virtual event with Jason Reynolds for free, in honour of his win at the Indie Book Awards – the book awards curated exclusively by indie booksellers as part of Independent Bookshop Week (18-25 June).

The virtual events sees Jason Reynolds, who has won the Children’s Fiction category of the Indie Book Awards, in conversation with bookseller Carolynn Bain from Afrori Books. They discuss When I Was the Greatest (Faber), his brilliant coming-of-age novel about friendship and loyalty across neighbourhood lines, illustrated by Akhran Girmay.

In honour of his win at the Indie Book Awards, a recording of the event will be made available to schools for free. To access the recording, schools can contact their local independent bookshop, or Bookshop.org directly.

Additionally, the event will be replayed on Tuesday 28th June at 7pm. Access to the event is free when customers buy a copy of any of his books from a participating independent bookshop or via Bookshop.org. The link to join the relevant event will be emailed to them on the day.
