Reading for pleasure is the single most important indicator of a child’s future success. (OECD, 2002). When teachers read, pupils read.

Cheltenham Festivals’ Reading Teachers = Reading Pupils (RTRP) programme has been running for seven years, annually reaching 9,000 pupils across the country through a network of teachers’ reading groups.

Join them for a conference on Tuesday 11th October that will empower and equip delegates to bring books to life in the classroom. A host of authors and literacy experts will contribute to a day of professional development centred on reading for pleasure. With keynotes, a panel discussion on Reading the World and a choice of workshops led by literacy organisations, researchers and writers, the programme offers a holistic approach to inspiring young people to read.

Aimed at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 practitioners, whether you are a senior leader, NQT, experienced classroom teacher or librarian, the RTRP conference will give you the tools and practical ideas to refresh your practice, engage your pupils, and ignite their love of reading.

Tickets include the full day’s programme, including two workshops of your choice. Details will be sent following your booking request.
Speakers include: authors Emma Carroll, Sophie Kirtley and S F Said; literacy experts Darren Chetty, Miranda McKearney and Dr Alison Waller as well as representatives from the SLA and the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education.
