Recommendations from school librarians
Children’s books website ReadingZone (www.ReadingZone.com) has launched an online bookclub for children and teenagers to share information about new books and developing authors, supported by a grant from Arts Council England, and they are looking for your help!
The ReadingZone Bookclub will run on YouTube, with author videos, book trailers, children’s and teenagers’ book reviews – and recommendations from specialists, which is where school librarians come in.
Editor Caroline Horn said, “We would love to have school librarians send their video recommendations for the bookclub, to help guide children and parents in book selections and to suggest great new fiction and non-fiction for readers aged 8-12 years. We’re keen to support young readers and their families, especially at a time when many can’t access the reading support they would usually have through their school.”
Your videos for the ReadingZone Bookclub should include three book recommendations, focused on a particular age or genre, and be around two minutes long. Do introduce yourself and the bookclub, and send your video to info@ReadingZone.com
The bookclub will give particular focus to supporting debut and BAME authors and illustrators, particularly during lockdown.
