Huge thanks to all who entered
The 23rd January marked 85 years since the School Library Association was first formed, back in 1937. We wanted to involve all our members in our birthday celebrations and, thanks to the generosity of publishers, we were delighted to give them the chance to win 85 brand new books for their school.
The flash giveaway ran for just 48 hours, and in order to enter members were asked to share the best thing about the SLA.
We're thrilled to announce the following winners:
Margaret McCulloch-Keeble, Orchard Academy
The best thing about the SLA is... It makes me feel like I'm part of something good and worthy and caring.
Lauren Kirton, Kempston Challenger Academy
The best thing about the SLA is... Training opportunities for School Librarians.
We're also pleased to offer a selection of smaller, runner-up prize bundles. The winners of these are...
Suzette Bryden, Little over Community School
The best thing about the SLA is... Hard to pick one thing as there are so many. The quick answers to obscure questions, "can you recommend a book about the crusades from the Islamic perspective for a Y7 boy" was one that sprung to mind. I love the magazine and find it invaluable in buying new books. My favourite has to be the conference, initially daunting for a little old state school librarian, but that doesn't last past the first half hour. Everyone is just so friendly and the workshops and speakers make it a highlight of the school year.
Eileen Roberts, The Ravensbourne School
The best thing about the SLA is... Book reviews and recommendations.
Angela Brame, Faringdon Community College
The best thing about the SLA is... Everything! So much information and help available. I’m fairly new at this role and there’s so much support on your website. Thank you!
James Gallagher, Borrow Wood Primary School
The best thing about the SLA is... The fact that the association has been going for so many years says it all.
Janet Ling, Aldwickbury School
The best thing about the SLA is... Always there with ideas, help and support to encourage reading in schools
