A Monster Calls offer for members

Walker Books have been working with eOne and Picturehouse Cinemas to offer an exciting opportunity for schools to book a private screening of the A Monster Calls film! Picturehouse would  now A Monster Callslove to share this exciting offer with SLA members.Out now in cinemas nationwide and starring Liam Neeson, Felicity Jones, Sigourney Weaver and Lewis MacDougall, the film has received rave reviews, The Times calling it a “heart-searing drama”, the Independent a “very cleverly crafted film which has a searing emotional impact” while the Evening Standard said that the film was a “touching, fantastical adaption”. 

 The film is 12A and is suitable for Year 6, KS3, KS4 | Subjects: English, PSHE, Media and Film.  As many teachers will know, the book appears on many Key Stage 3 reading lists and covers numerous key PSHE themes such as issues of family relationship dynamics, personal identity, bereavement, grief, bullying and isolation.  Picturehouse will include a discussion guide and are looking to create further resources for teachers to use post screening.  Full details of how to book and prices are on the website
