Barroux at South Ken Kids Festival

BarrouxAs part of the South Ken Kids Festival the acclaimed illustrator and cartoonist Barroux will orchestrate a special live drawing event around his graphic novel Alpha on 21 Nov, about a man from the Ivory Coast who decides to leave his homeland and head for Paris to join his family without a visa.

Barroux will be joined by graphic novel specialist Paul Gravett to discuss the role of current affairs in his work both as an illustrator and as a press cartoonist. His drawings have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post and in Forbes Magazine but his main occupation remains seizing current issues, like immigration in Alpha, and adapting them in picture books for all ages.

Translator Sarah Ardizzone will also be involved to present the Translation Machine project created around the book and to talk about how to translate a graphic novel.
