Can You Be a Superhero?

Do you love children’s books?
Keen to raise money for charity?
Enjoy a gentle jog round the park?
If the answer to all these questions is YES, then we, at Simon & Schuster, need you!

This May celebrates the publication of children’s debut The Bubble Boy, a beautiful story about a boy who looks – with Superherosuperhero-style bravery, curiosity and hope – to a future without limits. As part of the campaign, we’re teaming up with charities Starlightand I Am Super capes to raise awareness of children such as Joe Grant, The Bubble Boy’s main protagonist, who is unable to leave his hospital room and experience the beauty of the outside world.

Starlight has given us 40 places for this year’s 5k Superhero Run, taking place on Sunday 15th May at 11am in Regent’s Park. Stewart Foster, author of The Bubble Boy, will be taking part, as well as key media, bloggers and authors. We will be producing Bubble Boy branded T-shirts and I Am Super capes will be donating superhero capes for the runners to wear.

Each runner is asked to raise money for Starlight who grant wishes to seriously and terminally ill children. Simon & Schuster is kindly going to donate up to £50 per runner.

Liz is reserving 5 places for the first 5 school librarians to volunteer by contacting her at Liz.Binks[at]simonandschuster.co.uk. Make the SLA proud!
