Senior Librarian - Schools Services Officer 

Salary: £29,909–£30,756

Hours: Full time- 37 hours per week

Workbase: Carlisle - travel throughout Cumbria required

Cumbria Library Services for Schools is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced librarian to work with schools around the county.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to make a direct and positive difference to children's reading and library experiences within schools across the county.

The primary aim of Library Services for Schools is to support literacy and learning and to encourage reading for pleasure. The team provide a specialist library advisory service to primary, secondary and other educational establishments across Cumbria.

The Role

As a Senior Officer within the service, you will work closely with both school staff and pupils and be responsible for choosing the best resources needed to support the National Curriculum, school projects and reading for pleasure. You will be required to buy books, advise on library layout and stock in school, and be instrumental in promoting a love of books and reading at both primary and secondary school level. You will also be responsible for managing our 3 school Book Buses and overseeing our annual secondary school book award. 

Who we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will be a qualified librarian, teacher or have substantial experience and knowledge of the national curriculum and the library service. Experience of working at secondary school level would be desirable. We are looking for someone that is confident, enjoys working with children and has the ability to build strong working relationships at all levels within the school setting.
