Job Vacancies: St George’s the English International School, Munich, Germany - Librarian

St George’s School seeks a well-qualified professional to manage and develop our newly established learning resource centre, to begin August 2017

The School

Having opened in September 2013, St George’s School Munich has rapidly developed into a thriving community of over 250 pupils and 35 teachers. The school continues to grow, and as the school matures we expect to reach 800 pupils. The school’s ethos of combining an enriching curriculum with family orientated care makes the school a warm and engaging place to work and learn.

In September 2017, the school will embark on an exciting phase of its development, as it moves to a new, purpose-built campus located in the city. These premises will provide first-class educational facilities for all ages and subject areas.

The National Curriculum is taught throughout the school and we offer IGCSE qualifications to pupils in our Upper School. The school is currently undergoing IB accreditation, and we intend to start teaching the IB Diploma Programme in September 2018.

One of a group of three schools located across Germany, St George’s offers the successful applicant an exciting range of opportunities for professional development and growth across the school group.

The Location

Located on a campus in the vibrant residential district of Schwabing, St George’s School is well connected to the city centre and the greater Munich metropolitan area. The English Garden and Olympic Park both lie a short distance from the school.

Germany’s third largest city, and the capital of the state of Bavaria, Munich is a dynamic and vibrant cultural centre, with a large and diverse international community. Situated on the northern edge of the Alps, Munich offers a high standard of living, as well as numerous opportunities for travel and outdoor pursuits. It is a beautiful and forward looking city where work, rest and play are perfectly balanced.

Munich airport is located 30km from the school, with many daily flights to the UK, and high speed rail services connect Munich to a wide range of European destinations. The city also provides an extensive transport system in all areas at affordable prices.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced profession to manage the activities of our learning resource centre.

The successful applicant will be a dynamic individual with experience of promoting a passion for inquiry and effective research skills. Well-developed organisational and communication skills are a prerequisite. We are looking for the right balance between experience, enthusiasm and a passion for learning and inquiry, which will inspire our pupils.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to direct the development of this important area of the school.

The library will be opened in September 2017 and will be the heart of our school. It is our vision that the library space not only be a repository for books, but a dynamic centre of learning activity. It will be a place for both individual reading, research and reflection, as well as a space for collaboration and group discovery. We are looking for the right individual who can support us in achieving this vision and bringing this space to life.
