Reading Agency News October 2014

CHBKS WEEK LOGO WebChatterbooks week 11- 18 October

Chatterbooks Week, 11 - 18 October, is a celebration of Chatterbooks children's reading groups, and the fun that goes on in Chatterbooks sessions. It's the perfect time for schools, libraries and individuals across the UK to introduce children to the pleasure of reading. You’ll find some fantastic ideas for celebrating Chatterbooks Week on the website.

Wimpy Kid vs Gangsta Granny and the Twits!

Which books make children the happiest? We have collated the top ten most popular titles by the most popular authors from our Book Sorter. Now we need your help to get children voting!  The poll is on our children's website and results will be announced during Chatterbooks Week, so there’s not long to go! Please ask all children visiting the library who they would vote for so we can find out which book is the winner.

Chatterbooks Week celebration event 20 October

We are holding a celebration event just after Chatterbooks Week at 9.00 – 11.30 am on Monday 20 October, at the Free Word Centre. Find out more about the magic of Chatterbooks! Authors Guy Bass, Steve Cole and Ali Sparkes will be there, and you can hear about latest research on reading group impact on children. You can also find out about a special Chatterbooks event with Steve Cole, where the children got to shape the event content, and to promote it themselves!  If you are interested in attending, please contact Lynne.Taylor@readingagency.org.uk
