Summer Meeting

Topic : The role and future of Non-Fiction in the school Library  (KS2/3)

Speaker: We’re delighted to welcome Dan Nunn, author and Senior Product Manager for Raintree Publishing.

After Dan’s talk, there will be a Q&A session chaired by Helen Cleaves, who many of you will know, as she is chair of the SLA Info Book Award.

And we want you to contribute too, by bringing along a tried & tested recommended information book for KS2/3!Heath’s showroom is really worth a look and I will send out details nearer the time about arrangements for any purchasing.

Heath’s Showroom

You are most welcome to visit Heaths before our meeting – anytime after 3pm. If you want to do this, please let me know in advance as Heaths would like to know who to expect.(Visitors are asked to wear masks during showroom visits, please.)


Getting there:

By car – there is limited parking on Heaths forecourt, but there is street parking nearby.

By public transport – the number 80 bus stop is close by and Sutton Common and West Sutton railway stations are a short walk away.



Spring Meeting

Popular author Jo Cotterill was our guest speaker talking on Reading, Empathy and Wellbeing.

Jo is an award-winning author for primary age to young adult (she also writes under the name of Joanna Kenrick). She has written more than 40 books, some of which have featured in booklists for Empathy Day – which is on 9th June this year.


Autumn Meeting 

Success! This finally took place -in person - on 2nd November where we welcomed Joy Court, previously the Reviews Editor for the School Librarian and past chair of the CILIP Carnegie/Greenaway awards, currently an editor for LoveReading4kids and an author of books about reading.

Joy spoke on Visual literacy: looking at ways to develop students’ visual literacy skills.
