New IFLA Professional report - No 125

Entitled Using Research to promote literacy and reading in libraries: Guidelines for librarians by Lesley Farmer and Ivanka Stricevic. This brochure shows librarians how they can:

  • use research in their literacy and reading promotion efforts;
  • encourage other organisations that promote literacy and reading to make use of relevant research in their own promotional activities;
  • encourage librarians and other organisations to conduct action and assessment research.

This document can be downloaded or ordered from the IFLA website.  Dr Helen Boelens is in discussions with Dr. Farmer about producing a similar document that will be specifically oriented towards school libraries at international level.  If you have any references to specific, recent research about the promotion of literacy and reading in school libraries, will you please send it to Dr Boelens at boelen1[at]attglobal.net
