Following on from his appearance at our Weekend Course 2020, feedback on Baasit Siddiqui's appearance included comments such as:
"Memorable" "Inspirational" "Engaging and honest" " A great speaker"
We are delighted to welcome him back to help celebrate our President Richard Gerver's first Presidential Anniversary.
Listen to their conversation on the role school libraries play in bridging the attainment gap, building aspirations of disadvantaged students, helping to close the digital divide - and of course Googlebox.
This presidential event is free to SLA members due to the generosity of both speakers.
Baasit Siddiqui and Richard Gerver
Baasit Siddiqui, director of Siddiqui Education has combined his ten years teaching experiences with his unique journey and television connections as a member of the BAFTA and NTA winning show “Gogglebox”, to educate, motivate and build aspirations of school children across the nation. Throughout his time working largely with students from a deprived background, Baasit has developed his skill set and built a strong foundation of support from collaborators equally as committed in supporting these learners. Baasit is keen to share and celebrate these strategies so even more schools and children may benefit.
Richard has been described as one of the most inspirational leaders of his generation. He is an award-winning speaker, bestselling author and world-renowned thinker. He began his career in education, most notably as headmaster of the failing Grange Primary School. In just two years, he famously transformed the school into one of the most acclaimed learning environments in the world. He was celebrated by UNESCO and the UK Government for its incredible turnaround.
