Modern Slavery Policy
Introduction: The UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 sets out the need for all organisations, irrespective of size or remit, to ensure they prevent and address modern slavery in operations and supply chains.
The SLA recognises the importance of taking steps to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place in any part of our organisation. This policy applies to all Trustees, employees, volunteers, contractors, and suppliers.
Definition: Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of human rights. It can take many forms, including forced labour, human trafficking, debt bondage, and child labour. We are committed to ensuring that none of these practices take place in any part of our organisation or supply chains.
Scope: This policy applies to all aspects of our operations, including but not limited to, procurement, recruitment, and any other business activity that has the potential for modern slavery to occur.
Due Diligence: We will take all necessary steps to prevent and mitigate the risk of modern slavery in our organisation and supply chains.
Training and Awareness: We will provide training and awareness-raising activities to all Trustees, employees, volunteers, and stakeholders to ensure that they understand the risks and consequences of modern slavery. This will include training on identifying and reporting concerns related to modern slavery.
Reporting: Any Trustee, employee, volunteer, or stakeholders should report any concerns related to modern slavery in our organisation or supply chains to the Chair and/or the CEO. We will investigate all reports promptly and take appropriate action to address any issues identified. We will also protect whistle-blowers and ensure that there is no retaliation against them.
Communication: We will communicate our policy to all employees, volunteers, suppliers, and stakeholders. We will also make it publicly available on our website.
Conclusion: We are committed to preventing and addressing modern slavery in our organisation and supply chains. We will take all necessary steps to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place in any part of our organisation, and we will work with our suppliers and partners to promote ethical business practices. We will review and update this policy regularly to ensure that it remains effective in preventing and addressing modern slavery.
