Due to generous sponsorship from ALCS Meet the Creator is back and now more accessible than ever.

During the pandemic, the School Library Association launched Meet the Creator to provide some community moments, and highlight books and creators we thought schools should really know about. Hosted by Bev Humphrey, they did exactly that, and were incredibly popular. However, as we reflected on the event at the end of last year, we wondered if there was a way we could extend the reach even further.

In 2023, there will be two pre-recorded sessions a month (one primary and one secondary) and they will be available exclusively through SLA channels to all school library staff, parents, teachers and other interested audiences. Now sponsored by ALCS, their support now enables these sessions to be made available to non-SLA member schools via the SLA YouTube channel and a soon-to-be-created Meet the Creator page on the SLA website. It also means we can reach creators who haven't been put forward by their publisher - allowing us to maintain our aim of spotlighting those less heard from or emerging creators and ensuring representation from minority creators.

But that doesn't mean there won't be any community moments - each half term Bev will host a live event to reflect on some of the books she's been reading and hear from SLA Members about what you've been reading. Join us to end your half term with a bit of book chat!

We are really looking forward to bringing more great creators to an even bigger audience in 2023!
