The SLA are delighted to be able to continue the IBA Book Club for Schools for a fourth year thanks to funding from the Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS).
Schools across the UK can apply for the chance to receive a FREE pack of shortlisted books in one of the age categories for the 2024 Information Book Award.
Successful schools will also receive resources and ideas for activities for using the books with pupils. Children can then voice their opinions in the Children’s Choice vote.
Over the past three years the SLA has sent free books to over 200 schools, enabling even more pupils to be able to engage with the high-quality information books that the award celebrates.
Previous IBA Book Club Schools say participating in the Information Book Award has had a positive impact on the pupils involved.
One librarian said, “The books had an impact on teamwork and discussion skills, as well as helping students learn how they judge and choose books they might enjoy. The opportunity to vote in the award was very important, making the students feel part of something bigger.”
Applications close at 9am on Friday 17th May 2024. The shortlist will be released in June.
