Alison Tarrant will step down as the CEO of the School Library Association at the end of November, and be moving on to pastures new.
Alison has been with the SLA for over six years and has led it through unprecedented times, whilst transforming the organisation and the support it offers its members. Having been a school librarian (and SLA member) before her appointment in 2018, Alison has driven a rebuilding of the SLA membership offer and enhanced the governance and strategy of the Association.
Alison said: "It has been a privilege to represent SLA members with senior leaders in education, policy makers and MPs. I know that school libraries make a huge difference to pupils, and I wish the SLA and all its members every success in the future."
SLA Chair Paul Register added: “The SLA board of trustees and I thank Alison for her work over the last six and a half years. She has increased the profile of the SLA and we wish her success in her next role. We will be commencing the recruitment for Alison’s successor shortly, and will be looking to build on her great work and successes. We will work hard to ensure a smooth transition for the SLA staff and our members.”
