New Resource: SLA Recommended Reads

We're excited to announce our new capsule collection book lists, providing you with book recommendations for building engaging, inspiring and informative library collections.

Created exclusively for SLA members, our carefully curated book lists will help you to build collections that engage the children and young people you support, across all their varied interests, learning styles and levels of reading enthusiasm.

We know that budgets are limited, so we've grouped our recommendations into small collections, starting with one for Key Stage 2 and one for Key Stage 3. Each book list contains suggested titles in different categories, from old favourites to recent releases; from books that will make you think, to stories that will make you laugh, and each category contains a suggestion for one title for less confident and one title for more confident readers. We are also really pleased to say that Peters are supporting these book lists, with book packs now available at 20% off RRP to help your funds go further.

Finding time to research and evaluate new books can be overwhelming so we hope the recommendations in these lists will help you to select books for your school libraries that maximise the impact of your stock. Each list features a diverse range of titles that should spark curiosity, promote inclusivity, support educational outcomes and build enthusiasm for books and reading.

The book lists are available exclusively to SLA members. When logged in to your member account you will see all the live book lists accessible here: www.sla.org.uk/Public/Booklists/Booklists.aspx

We are committed to providing valuable, practical resources that directly support the daily work of school librarians. We plan to regularly update and expand the book lists resource with more capsule collections, so please do get in touch if you have a suggestion for a list that you would find helpful.

If you are not yet a member of the SLA, you can find out more about joining today to access all our resources, support and advice.
