About the SLA
The School Library Association is a national education charity and membership organisation that supports all schools to develop and deliver effective school library provision, and to build vibrant reading and learning communities, ensuring that all pupils can reach their full potential. We believe every child who has access to a good school library will achieve better outcomes across all areas.
We support approximately 2000 members in schools across the UK, and are the first port of call for schools and individuals wanting advice, resources and training. We help schools to overcome their barriers - including time, money and space, amongst others – to ensure that no child gets left behind on their reading journey.
We offer training, advice, networking and professional development opportunities, working with schools, colleagues and partners in the sector to advocate for school libraries and the benefits they bring at local, regional and national levels.
The school library provides precious opportunities for children to learn about themselves and the world around them. We support all those who work in school libraries to help them give children and young people access to these opportunities.
Membership gives up to 10 members of staff free resources, on demand and live training, networking opportunities, an academic journal, advice, exclusive discounts and more as part of a school membership. Our membership is designed to help you build an inclusive, supportive and engaging reading culture, where all children read widely and often to develop their confidence, enjoyment and skill.
