Thanks to generous sponsorship from some SLA branches and our friends across the sector, we're delighted to be able to offer a number of free tickets to our 2024 Weekend Course, Libraries Unleashed: Beyond the Shelves.

Proudly sponsored by Accessit and taking place in Sheffield on 7th and 8th June, this invigorating weekend will focuses on creating opportunities to unlock the full potential of school libraries, extending their reach into the wider curriculum and collaborating with others to successfully achieve this.  

As well as our biggest exhibition space yet and plenty of opportunities for inspiring networking, learning outcomes for the weekend include building your understanding of:

• Graphic novels: how they can be a valuable addition to your school library 
• AI: what it is, and how it could benefit school libraries
• Online activities: what the risks are, and how to protect teenagers
• TikTok & other social media: how to use it to develop reading habits
• Dewey: the benefits, the pitfalls and how to arrange your stock
• The future of education and the important role school libraries and their staff can play in leading the necessary transformation

Secondary School Library CPD Programme

Thanks to generous funding from the Foyle Foundation, we are pleased to announce the launch of a School Library CPD Programme to run throughout Spring and Summer 2024. 

Fifteen full SLA members will have the opportunity to take an action research training course, which includes a complimentary place at our Weekend Course. We're also offering five free or non-members the chance to benefit from complimentary Weekend Course tickets and a year's SLA membership.
